These are the guidelines for posting your fanwork to the community. Please make sure you read them before you post. A few things have changed since the last time this fest was run, so even if you've participated before, make sure to check them out before posting.

The community will be open for posting on May 8th, and you can post your fanwork any time after that. The last day of the fest is May 19th and posting will be closed at 7 AM EST on May 20th. Please get your fanwork in before the end date!

General Posting Guidelines

*You can submit your posts to both the Dreamwidth Comm and the Fest Tumblr if you want to. Exception: R-18/NSFW fanwork should be submitted to Dreamwidth only. Please see down the page under "R-18/NSFW submissions".

*You are welcome to crosspost your fanwork wherever you want, such as Ao3 or your personal tumblr, as long as it is submitted to the fest as well.

*All submissions must be public. We want everyone to be able to see the results of this fest.

*Each fanwork must be posted as a separate entry.

*If your fanwork is responding to a prompt that you received in a previous year, please mention in the prompt, summary, or content notes which year it was from.

*If your fanwork is written in a language other than English, then your header information should include which language you are writing in. Providing your summary/notes in both English and the fanwork's language is encouraged.

*If your fanwork includes a pairing, please mention it in the prompt (if applicable), summary, or content notes.

*The content notes section should be used if your fanwork uses human names, requires warnings, or if there is anything else that viewers should know before reading.

*This format should be used for the subject line:

[Submission Type]: Title of Submission.
For 'submission type', please use [Fanfiction], [Art], or [Fanfiction and Art] according to the type you are submitting.

*Use the following header in front of your submission. You can modify it to remove sections that do not apply.

Title:
Author/Artist: (Your Dreamwidth username, or Tumblr URL, or nickname for another site)
Prompt:
Other characters:
Rating:
Content notes: (Use of human names, warnings, or anything else the reader might want to know first, if applicable)
Summary:

Here is an example of a properly filled-out header:

Title: Never-Ending Road
Author: Anonymous
Prompt: Sweden, Norway - Letters - 1800s/1900s
Other characters: Denmark
Rating: T
Content notes: References to past Sweden/Norway. Some references to sex. Uses human names; Norway is 'Erik' and Denmark is 'Lars' in this story.
Summary: Many years after the end of Sweden's union with Norway, Sweden and Denmark are helping Norway clean out his study, and find some old letters that were received, but never opened.

Posting to Tumblr

Worksafe fanwork can be posted to the the fest tumblr. To post to the Nordipalooza Tumblr, you can use the Submit Form to send your entry, or email your submission to the mod (nordipalooza@gmail.com). Fanfic must have a readmore under the header; the mod can put in a readmore for you. Worksafe art doesn't require a readmore.

Posting to Dreamwidth

Both Worksafe and NSFW fic and art can be posted on the fest Dreamwidth community. To post to the Dreamwidth community using a Dreamwidth account, you need to be a member. If you are not a member yet, log in to your Dreamwidth account, go to the community profile and click "join". After you join, click "post to the community" on the comm profile to start your post. When posting to DW, the fanwork header must go in front of a cut, and the fanwork submission must go behind the cut. This applies for both fic and art. If you don't know how to make a cut, see the DW FAQ here. If you are posting art, Dreamwidth has limited image hosting (up to 500 mb per user), so you can host your fanwork on DW if you wish, or you can use another host such as imgur.

Posting R-18/NSFW Submissions

Tumblr has been banning/deleting blogs that post NSFW content. This includes both NSFW art and NSFW text. In order to prevent the fest blog from being banned, please submit your NSFW fanworks to the Dreamwidth community instead of the fest tumblr! They will be included in the final list of all fanworks. If you don't have a DW account, you can use the instructions outlined below to have it posted by the mod account. You are welcome to crosspost your entries anywhere else in addition to this, such as Ao3 or your personal tumblr account.

Posting Without An Account

If you do not have a Dreamwidth/Tumblr account, or if you prefer to remain anonymous, email your submission to nordipalooza@gmail.com as attachment(s) with the header form(s) filled out in the body of the email. When your fanwork is received, [personal profile] nordipaloozamod will post it to DW/Tumblr for you.

Ao3 Collection

If you crosspost your work to Archive of Our Own, you're welcome to add your work to the fest collection. Old works for the 2012-2016 fests should be posted to the 2012-2016 collection. Works for 2019 should go in the 2019 collection.

Have a question? Still not sure how to submit? You can comment here for clarification, or send an email to nordipalooza@gmail.com, and we’ll help you with that.

I can't post because my fic's "too large." Should I make two posts, or post one here and link to part 2 on my (personal) journal, or..?
