Nordipalooza Fanwork Fest

The following is a complete list of the fanworks submitted during the 2014 fest. It is arranged in the order that they were submitted. See summary fields for each submission's type/rating/language.

You don't need to have a Livejournal account in order to comment on the postings; Anonymous commenting is enabled. Conversation is very encouraged. :)

Hi everyone;

Just thought I'd remind you that May 18th is the last day that you can post. Posting will close on the morning of May 19th. (That's morning in west-coast North America, to be specific.) I definitely recommend getting your submission in on the 18th rather than taking the risk of submitting too late.

This means there are only a few days left to post. Good luck with your submissions!

These are the guidelines for posting your fanwork to the community. Please make sure you read them before you post.


The community will be open for posting on May 9th, and you can post your fanwork any time after that. The last day of the fest is May 18th and posting will be closed at 7 AM EST on May 19th. Please get your fanwork in before the end date!

Signups for the 2014 fest are now closed. Thanks to everyone who decided to join!

Fest emails will be sent out by April 15th. Keep an eye on your inbox. An announcement will be made when everyone's prompt lists have been sent.

There have been a few changes to the fest this year, which will be explained in this entry.

Returning participants from 2013 and 2012

A new addition to the fest is that those who have participated previously can post submissions from their 2013 and 2012 prompt lists for the 2014 fest. If you started something in a previous year and didn't have time to finish it before posting closed, or you still find the prompts from a previous year inspiring, then you can submit work responding to those prompts to the current fest!

Signing up for the 2014 fest is still required for past participants who will be submitting from past prompt lists. This means that you will receive a list for 2014, and you can respond to that one or to one that you received in a previous year. (Or both, if you want to!)


Language for fanworks

Previously, all submissions have been in English. This year, submissions in other languages are accepted as well! (They would have been accepted in previous years too, but there were no inquiries about it). There is only one additional requirement for entries in languages other than English, and it is that the summary/content notes should be written in English in addition to whichever language the submitter is using.

Welcome to the Nordipalooza Fanwork Fest!

What is Nordipalooza?

This fest is designed to encourage people to make fanwork exploring a wide variety of interactions between the Nordic characters. The goal is to provide people the challenge of working within the confines of short prompts featuring two randomly-assigned characters. At the same time, it allows for the freedom and flexibility to be as creative and imaginative as possible.

Fanwork centring on the themes of family, friendship, rivalry, historical, and romantic situations are all equally encouraged!

In this fest, each person is assigned a list of four prompts. Each prompt contains two randomly-assigned Nordic characters, one simple theme, and two completely optional historical time periods to use as extra inspiration. From this list, they then pick two prompts, and for each prompt produce one piece of art or write at least 500 words. There is also the option to respond to only one prompt if you want to make a more complicated fanwork.

New addition: Participants from previous years can submit fanwork based on prompts they received for previous fests, provided they sign up for the current fest as well. You will receive a new list, and can write for either the new one or the old one; it's up to you.
