[Fanfiction] Event Horizon (Part 1)

Title: Event Horizon (Part 1)
Author: [personal profile] gelaecter  (tumblr | AO3)
Prompt: Iceland, Denmark - Missing - AU or Modern
Other characters: Belgium, Netherlands, mentions of the other Nordics
Rating: T
Content notes: Well this snowballed - only part one atm because I'm caught up in in the middle of an unexpected (but ultimately positive) job transition and didn't have time to type up the rest (it is finished though). No other warnings, at least for this section.
Summary: Emil's estranged brother goes missing, and Emil gets to know him in his absence.

[fanfiction]: Deadweight Tonnage

Title: Deadweight Tonnage
Author: [personal profile] kanadka (tumblr, ao3)
Prompt: Iceland, Denmark - Mourning - Medieval or 1800s
Other characters: Norway; England gets mentions and is the general antagonist but is otherwise Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Fic
Rating: M, because Iceland disposes of a body.
Content notes: Didn't write it with the accents this time. Hopefully the dialogue is worded such that it's not hard to superimpose them, should you choose! Also, I took this prompt very liberally. There's a death, but not a lot of mourning happens. Light mentions of gore (there's a body)
Summary: Iceland knows there's no way Denmark will let England have those ships, unless he's unavoidably detained.

[Fanfiction] All The Things He Said

Title: All The Things He Said
Author/Artist: Icelilly
Prompt: Denmark, Any Nation (Estonia) - Things Left Unsaid - Modern or 1500s
Other characters: The Nordic-Baltic 8 appear in this but only Den, Est, Fin, Liet, and Lat have lines.
Rating: T
Content notes: DenEst-centered. Very long, around 4400+ words. More notes are listed at the end of this fic. I forgot how to write Den's accent.
Summary: Denmark and Estonia once shared a difficult and violent relationship but not so much anymore. Still, the memories from those days still plague him and he's struggling to enjoy his day off with his partner and friends.

[Fanfiction] Dragged

Title: Dragged
Author/Artist: Hinata Plusle
Prompt: Norway, Iceland - Ocean/Sailing - Modern or 1600s
Other characters: none
Rating: K
Content notes: none
Summary: He couldn’t believe he was being dragged along his own lands because of the ocean, of all things possible. Couldn’t Norway look at it at his own home?

Dragged )

[Fanfiction] Somehow

Title: Somehow
Author/Artist: Hinata Plusle
Prompt: Finland, Denmark - Closed Doors - (AU or 1500s)
Other characters: none
Rating: K
Content notes: none
Summary: To be unable to pinpoint why it didn’t feel right was another very frustrating thing.

Submission Date Reminder/Announcement

Hi everyone!

Due to my unfortunate work schedule over this weekend, the fest is being extended by one day - this means the last day to submit to fest community will now be July 17th, and posting will be closed on July 18th at 8AM EST.

Please read the posting guidelines before you post.

If you have any questions, please send me an ask or email nordipalooza@gmail.com and we’ll get things sorted out for you. :)

[Fanfic]: Things that change and things that don't

Title: Things that change and things that don’t

Author:  Aki-no-hikari

Prompt: Norway, Denmark: Transformation – [Optional: Viking Age or 1500s]

Other characters: Mentions of England, Sweden, Germany, Iceland and Finland.

Rating: T

Content notes: Cursing, mentions of death, violence and war but nothing explicit. Historical inaccuracies abound.

Summary: Norway and Denmark were siblings, born of the same father and of the sea they both so loved. But more than siblings, they were best friends.

As his sibling and best friend, Norway was in a prime position to watch Denmark. The same similarities and differences that made them fight and get on each other’s nerves made Denmark fascinating to observe.

Admin Update Announcement

Signups have been opened! To find out how to sign up, please read the signup post.

If you kept your prompt lists from previous years, you can still submit fanwork responding to those prompts, as long as you sign up for this year's fest too. Just the same as last year's fest, submissions in all languages are allowed and encouraged! This primarily applies to fanfic, but also to comics and captioned drawings. If you want to write in a language other than English, make sure label it for tagging purposes.

In addition to the text version of the fest schedule, you can also view the fest schedule on Google Calendar.

Nordipalooza 2016: Introduction, Timeline, and Guidelines

Welcome to the Nordipalooza Fanwork Fest!

What is Nordipalooza?

This fest is designed to encourage people to make fanwork exploring a wide variety of interactions between the Nordic characters. The goal is to provide people the challenge of working within the confines of short prompts featuring two randomly-assigned characters. At the same time, it allows for the freedom and flexibility to be as creative and imaginative as possible.

Fanwork centring on the themes of family, friendship, rivalry, historical, and romantic situations are all equally encouraged! All ratings are accepted, and fic submissions in all languages are accepted.

In this fest, each person is assigned a list of four prompts. Each prompt contains two randomly-assigned Nordic characters, one simple theme, and two completely optional historical time periods to use as extra inspiration if you wish. From this list, you then pick two prompts, and for each prompt produce one piece of art or write at least 500 words. There is also the option to respond to only one prompt if you want to make a more complicated fanwork.

Participants from previous years can submit fanwork based on prompts they received for previous fests, provided they sign up for the current fest as well. You will receive a new list, and can write for either the new one or the old one; it's up to you.
